The LPG marketing companies and LPG Association of Pakistan (LPGAP) were also issued directives in which the authority stated that the licences of the companies which fail to comply with the directives of the authority may be suspended or penalty may be imposed on them.
Sources said that a number of complaints received from district administrations and general public regarding LPG price hike, ignoring the price determined by the OGRA for the month of December 2018.
The oil and gas regulator notified LPG price for December 2018 as Rs 1,338.78/ 11.8-kg cylinder and all the LPG producers and marketing companies were directed to comply with the directive of the OGRA. Letters were also written to the federal and provincial governments to take necessary action against the distributors, illegal decanters and LGP storage and filling plants companies which are found involved in charging consumers over and above the prices notified by the OGRA.
In Punjab region, the OGRA was reported that all distributors and LPG companies are not only charging consumers over and above the notified price of OGRA but are also creating artificial shortage of LPG after a crackdown against them. So far Cress LPG, Synergy Resources, Home Gas and Links International were booked for overcharging distributors and consumers, whereas LPG importer companies like Pyramid Gas, Ayan Energy and Cress LPG are found creating artificial shortage of LPG by supplying gas to other regions.
